Using ReMews

ReMews is an informational and community website focused on cats.

ReMews may provide features including editorial articles, breed information, product reviews, guides, calculators, user accounts, community discussions and links to third-party products or services. Features may be added, changed or removed over time.

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms.

Unless we specifically provide otherwise, users must be at least 16 years old to create a ReMews account or participate in community features.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. You must not intentionally provide false account information, impersonate another person or create accounts for fraudulent, abusive or disruptive purposes.

You may be able to authenticate using a third-party service such as Google. Your use of that third-party service is also subject to the applicable provider's terms.

ReMews may allow users to publish posts, comments, images, replies and other material ("User Content"). You remain responsible for User Content that you submit.

You must not use ReMews to publish or distribute content that:

• is unlawful
• promotes or facilitates criminal activity
• infringes another person's copyright, trademark or other rights
• is threatening, harassing, defamatory or deliberately abusive
• reveals another person's private or identifying information without an appropriate lawful basis
• contains spam, scams, deceptive advertising or malicious links
• contains malware or attempts to compromise ReMews or another user's device or account
• impersonates another individual or organisation
• encourages animal abuse or cruelty
• deliberately spreads dangerous misinformation as professional veterinary or medical advice
• is sexually exploitative or otherwise unlawful
• materially disrupts the community or attempts to circumvent moderation measures

Disagreement, criticism and differing opinions are permitted. Community moderation is not intended to eliminate legitimate discussion. Our Community Guidelines explain how this works in practice.

We may moderate User Content and accounts to protect users, enforce these Terms, comply with legal requirements or maintain the integrity of the service. Depending on the circumstances, we may issue warnings, remove content, restrict the visibility of content, temporarily limit an account, suspend an account or terminate an account.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide information concerning moderation decisions and available means of contesting them. We are not obligated to pre-screen every item of User Content.

Users may report content that they believe violates these Terms using the Report action shown on forum threads and replies.

ReMews also provides a report form for allegedly illegal content, open to anyone, including people without a ReMews account.

A report concerning allegedly illegal content should identify the specific content, its location or address, explain why the reporter believes it is illegal and provide any other information reasonably necessary to assess the report.

Reporting mechanisms must not knowingly be abused to submit fraudulent or malicious claims.

You retain ownership of intellectual property rights that you hold in your User Content.

By publishing User Content through ReMews, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, technically process, display and distribute that User Content insofar as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, moderate and promote the ReMews service. This licence does not transfer ownership of your User Content to ReMews.

The licence ends when the content is permanently removed from our systems, except where continued processing is reasonably required for backups, legal obligations, dispute resolution or security. You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit content you publish on ReMews.

Except for User Content and third-party materials, the Website and its content, branding, text, graphics, designs, software and other materials are owned by or licensed to ReMews and may be protected by intellectual property law.

You may use publicly available ReMews content for personal, non-commercial use.

Unless permitted by law or authorised by us, you may not systematically copy, scrape, republish, reproduce, sell or commercially exploit substantial parts of ReMews.

ReMews publishes information concerning cats, including health, behaviour, feeding, care and related subjects. This information is provided for general informational purposes.

ReMews is not a veterinary clinic and Website content does not constitute veterinary diagnosis, treatment or personalised veterinary advice. Information on ReMews is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified veterinarian.

If an animal may be ill, injured, poisoned or experiencing an emergency, seek appropriate professional veterinary assistance rather than relying on Website content.

Calculators and tools provided by ReMews, including feeding, calorie, weight, water or portion calculations, produce estimates based on the information entered and the assumptions underlying the tool. Individual cats may have substantially different nutritional or medical requirements.

Calculator results are informational estimates and should not be treated as veterinary prescriptions or guarantees. Consult an appropriate professional where individual health, nutritional or medical circumstances require it.

Product reviews, breed reviews, recommendations, comparisons and editorial opinions published by ReMews are informational and may include subjective assessments.

We aim to provide useful and accurate information, but experiences, products, prices, availability and circumstances may change. The inclusion or ranking of a product does not guarantee that it is appropriate for every user or animal.

Some ReMews pages contain affiliate links.

If you follow an affiliate link and purchase a product or service, ReMews may receive a commission or other compensation without necessarily increasing the price paid by you.

Affiliate relationships do not transfer responsibility for the third-party product or service to ReMews. Where content contains affiliate or sponsored relationships, we disclose the commercial nature of that relationship clearly, near the start of the affected content.

Commercial relationships do not give third parties a right to submit fabricated user reviews or represent advertising as independent user opinion.

ReMews may link to third-party websites, retailers, manufacturers or services. Those websites are operated independently from ReMews.

We do not control and are not responsible for their products, availability, terms, pricing, privacy practices, security or content. A link does not by itself constitute a guarantee or endorsement. Any transaction with a third party is between you and that third party.

We may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of ReMews. We do not guarantee that every feature or piece of content will remain continuously available or error-free. We may perform maintenance, change technical infrastructure or remove obsolete functionality.

You may not:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to ReMews or another user's account
• interfere with Website security or operation
• introduce malware or harmful code
• use automated systems in a manner that materially burdens or damages the service
• circumvent technical access restrictions
• harvest personal information from other users
• use ReMews for fraudulent or unlawful activity

Reasonable indexing by legitimate public search engines is permitted unless technically restricted by ReMews.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:

• a serious or repeated violation of these Terms
• unlawful activity
• security risks
• fraud or abuse
• legal requirements
• conduct that creates material risk to ReMews or its users

You may stop using ReMews at any time and may delete your account from your profile page or request deletion in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

ReMews is provided on an "as available" basis.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that all content will always be complete, current, accurate or suitable for every purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be prohibited by law.

To the extent permitted by law, ReMews is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss resulting solely from reliance on informational Website content, third-party websites, third-party products or interruptions outside our reasonable control. These Terms do not limit rights that consumers have under mandatory applicable consumer law.

Our processing of personal data is described in the ReMews Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is described in the ReMews Cookie Policy.

We may update these Terms where necessary to reflect changes to ReMews, applicable law, security requirements or our services. The current version and its effective date will be published on this page. Where required or appropriate, we will give registered users reasonable notice of significant changes.

ReMews is operated by an entity established in the Netherlands, and these Terms are governed by Dutch law.

If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections provided by the law that would otherwise apply to you. Any dispute will be handled by a court having jurisdiction under applicable law.
